ScreenYeet Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
ScreenYeet turns screenshots and photos into organized, actionable items. This policy describes what the app collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: your data exists to power your own account and improve the app; we run no ads, we never sell it, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
- Your email address — to create and sign in to your account. You sign in with a one-time code we email you, a password if your account has one, or Sign in with Apple or Google. If you use Apple or Google, they confirm it's you and share your email address with us (Apple can give a private relay address that forwards to you). We never receive your Apple or Google password, and nothing else from those accounts.
- Images you choose to capture — screenshots and photos you deliberately add, plus the text and structured details extracted from them (titles, dates, and similar).
- Voice input you choose to dictate — turned into text by your phone's own speech recognition (Apple's or Google's, which may process it on their servers under their own privacy terms). We receive only the text, which is treated like any other captured item.
- Usage patterns inside the app — such as when you capture, reclassify, and complete items, and when you open the app. Some of this is computed on your device to make the in-app assistant more helpful; a limited set of anonymous events is also sent to our own servers so we can see what's working and improve the app. These events are only categories and counts — never your screenshots or the text inside them.
- Crash and error reports — when the app crashes or hits an error, a technical diagnostic (what failed, your device and OS version, and an anonymous account identifier) is sent so we can fix it. These reports never include your screenshots, item contents, email, or name.
We collect nothing in the background. Nothing is captured unless you capture it.
How it's processed
- Storage and accounts run on Supabase. Your images are stored privately, readable only by your account.
- AI analysis uses Anthropic's Claude API. Reading your captures with AI is how ScreenYeet works, so the app tells you this and asks you to agree before anything is sent. Anthropic then receives the images you capture and the text in them, the text of your voice notes, and your saved items' text (titles, notes and dates) for the assistant's daily note. Anthropic uses it only to answer the request; under its commercial terms it does not train its models on it.
- Sign in with Apple or Google, if you choose it, is handled by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. We receive only the confirmation that it's you and your email address.
- Calendar and contacts access happens only when you tap an action that uses them, and the resulting events or contacts live on your device, not our servers.
- Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push infrastructure and no notification data leaves your phone.
- Crash reporting uses Sentry to collect the diagnostic reports described above when something breaks. Reports are stripped of personal information, never contain your screenshots or item contents, and identify you only by an anonymous account ID.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no cross-app or cross-website tracking.
- No third-party marketing or advertising trackers. The usage events and crash reports we do collect are used only to fix and improve the app — never to profile you or follow you elsewhere.
- No selling or sharing of your data. The only companies that ever process it are the service providers named above — Supabase, Anthropic, and Sentry — each acting on our behalf.
Retention and deletion
Your items and images are kept until you delete them. Deleting an item removes both the database record and the stored image after a short undo window. To delete your account and everything in it — every item, every image, and the account itself — use Delete account in the app's Settings. It takes effect immediately. You can also email us at the address below and we'll complete it promptly.
Why we use your data (legal bases)
If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the law asks us to name the basis for each use:
- To provide the app you signed up for (your account, storing your captures, reading and sorting them with Anthropic's AI, notifications): performance of our contract with you. If you don't want your captures read by AI, you can stop using ScreenYeet and delete your account.
- Crash reports and anonymous usage events: our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it. You can object by emailing us.
Where your data is processed
Supabase, Anthropic and Sentry process data in the United States. If you're outside the US, your data is transferred there under each provider's data processing terms, which include the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK addendum).
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- See the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it in a portable format.
- Correct anything that's wrong. Most of it you can edit in the app directly.
- Delete it. Delete account in Settings does this immediately.
- Object to or restrict a use of it, or withdraw consent you've given.
Email privacy@screenyeet.app and we'll answer within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. If you're in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
ScreenYeet isn't directed to children and isn't meant for anyone under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA, UK and Switzerland). We don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we'll delete it.
